What brought you into the agency world? What do you enjoy most about it?
Honestly, I had never really thought about agency work before meeting the team at Catchy. Luckily, some good timing and a bit of kismet brought us together, and I couldn’t be more thankful. What I enjoy most is the positive impact we have on our clients’ developer marketing programs. Seeing the value that comes out of our work and what it does for our clients (and their clients) is what gets me up in the morning. That and our team. There really is something magical about the culture and team at Catchy, and I can’t wait to see where we take things next.
What are some common challenges in the intersection of technology and marketing? How do you overcome these challenges?
My biggest struggle is communicating the immense value that our clients provide in just a few short words. Encapsulating the value and capabilities of an entire business in a heading or tagline is challenging enough, but having to do so in a way that will be meaningful to a broad audience is really difficult. But for me (and I’d dare say most, if not all, of the Catchy team), this is where the good stuff lies.
We overcome this particular challenge by doing extensive research and digging deep to understand our audience's pains, needs, and values. My technology background helps in this regard since I’ve been in the shoes of the people we are reaching: writing code, working with QA teams, crafting product solutions, and searching for services to help achieve specific goals. Having experienced these things firsthand, I can more effectively craft messages and find solutions that will strike a chord with our audience.
