We’ve all heard of smartphones and tablets, but 2012 was the year of the phablet. It sits in the blurry space between a smartphone and a tablet. No one really knows where the limits stand but there is one thing that tablets normally can’t do, make calls. We’re talking calls over 3G not over Wifi, or using Skype etc.
Well, Asus has seen to that with its soon to be released FonePad tablet. Not to be confused with a large screen size phone (or phablet), this is a 7-inch tablet, powered by Android 4.1 and sporting a 3G chip.
While there are mixed emotions about it, only time will tell the popularity of a tablet that you can use to make calls. Would you give up your smartphone or phablet in favour for switching fully over to a tablet with the ability to make calls over 3G?
