Samsung smartphone sales topped $23.63 billion in Q1 2013

report from Yonhap News has revealed Samsung was the world’s number one smartphone seller (in terms of revenue) for the first three months of this year as it topped $23.63 billion, overtaking Apple who had occupied the top spot in the previous quarter. This was as a result of Apple being $7.71 billion down from the previous quarter with $22.95 billion worth of smartphone sales.

However, Apple did rank first in terms of operating income earned by handset makers globally in the first quarter, taking a 31% share. Samsung came in second with a 21.8% share, LG third with 4.1%, followed by Sharp with 3%.
