Google expected to overtake Apple’s total app downloads in 3 months time

After Apple reported it had hit 50 billion app downloads two weeks, VentureBeat has been doing the maths and has estimated Google aren’t that far behind.

When you compare the two platforms, Google Play is receiving 2.5 billion app downloads a month, whereas Apple is only receiving two billion.  However, individually iOS users are downloading more apps per device (83%) than Android users (53%). Android also has the majority of the market share (70% globally), while Apple has the majority of the profit share.

So which one will come out on top?
