Feel the burn: Amazon’s Fire TV Stick is hot

When it comes to rolling out new ideas and products, Amazon is simply crushing it. The pace of innovation, new product releases and updates coming from Amazon is blazing fast.

Last week they announced access to unlimited file and photo storage via the Amazon Cloud Drive service. According to The Next Web, Amazon’s Prime members, and owners of “Fire” devices “already have unlimited photo storage included with their accounts, but everyone else can now upload an ‘infinite’ amount of photos for $11.99 (USD) per year.”

And earlier this week – we promise it was not an April Fool’s Day prank – Amazon announced the release of their new “Dash” button, which makes reordering various products that you use around the home a one-click shopping trip. Developers will be able to get in on this action later this year. Check out the demo video if you missed it:

And while both of those announcements are cool, what really has us excited is the latest announcement from Amazon about their Fire TV and Fire TV Stick for fast and easy wireless media streaming. One feature that they announced that everyone can appreciate is that you will be able to use these devices to “connect to Wi-Fi that requires web authentication—this includes Wi-Fi at most major hotels, as well as some universities.” (No more over-priced hotel pay-per-view nonsense.)

We’ve learned that the Fire TV Stick is coming to the UK, Germany and Austria, so the devices will be available to more customers than ever before. Both Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick are bestsellers on Amazon.com with 4 stars each and over 50,000 customer reviews between them. The Amazon Fire TV device is a PCMag Editors’ Choice product.

The variety of content on Fire TV is growing quickly, and the specs on the Fire TV Stick are serious, too. It includes a dual-core processor, 1GB of memory, 8GB of Flash storage, support for Dolby Digital Plus, Wi-Fi capability, voice search via a remote app, and more.

So, if you were to ask us – and we hope you will – now is the time to bring your channel (i.e., app) to Amazon’s Fire TV devices and reach even more customers around the world.

We’re currently running an exclusive promotion for developers who port their apps to Amazon Fire TV & Stick. If you’re interested in finding out more, then please contact kelly@catchyagency.com.
