Since Facebook Home was launched on the 12th April in the US (internationally released on the 16th April) it has received over 500,000 downloads within the Google Play Store. When you compare this to the 1 million downloads Instagram (Android) received within the first 24 hours of release, it doesn’t look good (especially as Facebook has an existing global user base of over a billion).
The Android-based launcher that puts Facebook and its messaging, photo and other services front and center on a user’s mobile device has continued to receive mostly negative reviews with an average rating of 2.2 in the Google Play Store. The Next Web reports that: Facebook Home received an unusually large number of one-star reviews shortly after launch with 5,617 of the total 10,905 reviews (52%) being one-star ratings.
