Can you tell us about your role at Catchy?
My role at Catchy is multifaceted. As a part of the account leadership team, I’m responsible for the overall planning, strategy, oversight and execution of our work. In a nutshell, it’s my job to ensure project success from both the Catchy and client perspectives, while also ensuring our teams have the tools, time, and resources they need to create incredible work for our clients. Every day is a little different, pending the day’s priorities, but includes and is not limited to:
- Implementing internal and client communication protocols, meetings, and processes
- Creating, driving, and managing all workstream deliverable schedules
- Establishing program governance with the account leadership team
- Creating and managing program-level status communications with our leadership
- Proactively identifying risks, with resulting mitigation and change management plans
- Streamlining processes and improving efficiencies
- Monitoring and managing client budget
- Managing team resourcing and utilization
Which Catchy value do you strongly resonate with and why? (Collaborative, Fluid, Inclusive, Accountable)
I resonate with all of our values, and that makes it very difficult to choose just one. Ultimately, though, the most important for me is accountability - being accountable to the client brief, to the client’s needs and desired outcomes, and to our Catchy team by living and breathing our other values of being collaborative, inclusive and fluid.
What do you enjoy about working with Catchy?
Catchy is my happy place. It’s a place where I get to work with really interesting people who are passionate about creating great work and delivering value for our clients’ budgets and long term strategic goals. What’s special about Catchy is our culture. Where many agencies talk about their culture, I’ve often found that it's not truly lived from the top down. At Catchy, our culture is the strong foundation on which our house of resources and work is built. And it’s truly lived and breathed by every member of our team, from founder to admin and everyone in between.
Do you have any advice you would give to your younger self?
My younger self lived in fear of growth and change. Predictability was my friend and kept me safe - until it wasn’t and it didn’t.
It wasn’t until my late 20s that I learned how much better your life is when you’re open to change, growth, and new learning opportunities. I would tell my younger self to say yes to the things that scare me and use that fear as a driver toward success.
Can you share a bit about your background, and how you’ve decided to become a Program Manager?
I started in marketing at a small agency in the mid 2000s as an office manager, dipping my toe into the world of marketing. I had a tremendous four-year learning period, which grew my knowledge and skill set.
This growth provided me the much needed education to launch me the opportunity to move client-side for another decade. My unique experience on a very small and agile marketing team provided a high-level education in all the different functions and practices within B2B marketing.
Those two career moments are what set me down the path of agency project/program management, and gave me a unique perspective as a project manager - as I had the experience of being the “do-er” to lean into. It gave me a better sense of orders of operations, risks, timeframes, and budgets, and allowed me opportunities to manage different types of work. As a result, I’m a utility player who can jump into various work streams and move them forward very quickly.
