BlackBerry CEO: tablets dead in five years

In an interview with Bloomberg BlackBerry chief executive: Thorsten Heins said: “In five years I don’t think there’ll be a reason to have a tablet anymore. Maybe a big screen in your workspace, but not a tablet as such. Tablets themselves are not a good business model.”

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise when you consider Heins’ previous comments about BlackBerry not jumping back into tablets unless it could see the potential for profits.

The CEO also stated that he sees BlackBerry as ‘the absolute leader in mobile computing’ in five years time as a result of its increasing percentage of market share, and not from being a ‘copycat’.
