Canalys‘ App Interrogator research (which looked at the leading app stores in more than 50 countries) found the mobile app market increased in the first quarter of 2013 by 11% in app downloads over all the Q4 2012 combined. This means a total revenue of $2.2 billion.
The top four (most used) app stores: Apple’s App Store, Google Play, the Windows Phone Store, and BlackBerry World hit 13.4 billion downloads worldwide in the first quarter. Whilst Apple’s App Store had the most market share with 74%, Google Play saw the greatest number of downloads which was roughly 51% of the stores’ combined total.
